Welcome to PoemCrunch: an experiment in the automated generation of new poems in the style of the classics. Many great poets demonstrated their versatility by mimicking the style of past masters. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! So what better exercise for the emerging field of Poetry Technology than to simulate some of those classics?

The poems are generated by an automated system using handcrafted Context Free Grammar templates with a custom dictionary of poetic vocabulary. The results, it is hoped, will by turns amuse and surprise.

A more detailed description of the process and ideas that resulted in PoemCrunch can be found at Poetry Technology Goes Liftoff!
